Restaurant 54, Broadstairs, Thanet
Avril Henry, Restaurant Manager and Partner, Joe Silk, Head Chef & Partner
These two people are the main combined driving force behind Restaurant 54.
Avril has a long & successful career behind her in the Restaurant and
Hospitality industry.
After arriving in England from the Emerald Isle in 1987
she quickly honed her front of house skills at the Dickens Inn, St Katharine’s Dock,
London where she worked for twelve years, dealing with regular diners,
tourists from all over the world & looking after large corporate events.
Avril moved to Broadstairs in March 2000, when she opened
the Citrus Restaurant, which achieved critical acclaim locally
for both its quality of food & overall dining experience.
After a break she is back, with renewed vigour & excitement which will immediately
be apparent as soon as you cross the threshold of the restaurant.
Joe learnt his trade at Loughborough Technical College.
He moved down to London over 20 years ago to gain experience
and embark on his career as a Chef.
He has worked at some of London’s finest eateries, including the
Savoy Hotel & The English House in Chelsea. For the past twelve years
he has worked at the Dickens Inn, St Katharine’s Dock, London.
This is where he met Avril; they have remained friends ever since.
Joe worked his way up to Head Chef looking after four separate dining
rooms within the Dickens Inn. His dream has always been to cook in his own
restaurant & create good food for discerning customers.
That dream has now become reality as he joins forces with Avril to
embark on this exciting journey that is Restaurant 54.
